I haven’t really said much about what happened here in Norway, that don’t mean I don’t care, it is just that I feel more like that no matter what I say it won’t change anything. All the groups on facebook are nice, but I sort of feel like a lot of them are the same and some of them meaningless. It is easy to say that you are going to attend on facebook, but what is more important is to go out and join others!
The crowds that have gathered around in Norway are a thousand times more beautiful than anything else that I have seen on the news when it comes to Norwegian history. I have never believed in being able to stop hate with more hate, and the crowds of people comming together in love has renewed my view of the human race! It might have been all because of a act of meaningless cruelness, but what is important now is to decide how we will deal with this as Norwegians! Hate makes hate, and if we start hating more things like this will happen!
“Even in their deepest sorrow the Norwegians don’t get hysterical. They resist the hate. It is amazing to see how politicians and the whole country reacts. They are sad to the deepest thread of their souls. They cry in dignity. But nobody swears to take revenge. Instead they want even more humanity and democracy. That is one of the most remarkable strengths of that little country.”
– From a German newspaper
Of course this is not true for everyone, we see people that attack police-cars to try and hurt this man back as he hurt Norway. But it is understandable, as people wants to grieve and there is nothing easier than to take it out on the one we all probably hate now.. But the most scary is that we also see people that makes facebook groups for good, then change them over to sites to support the terror attacks. I don’t know if it is meant as a joke, or if he has more supportes out there, but it is sickening anyway!
Another thing that is really sad, is what I saw when the news of the bomb just came out on the news. The second it happened, everyone right away started blaming everything outside of Norway. I understand that it was the most natural thing to think, but the people who went out and said” What did we say?!” then, also hurt a little.
But Norway has never claimed to be a perfect land! It is a land where we live high on oil money. We send off money to help everyone that needs it, but we won’t join EU because we have to give away more. We have bad jokes no other country would understand! We have re-runs off McGuyver, friends and M*A*S*H that will probably be on in a hundred years from now! We have a royal family that might seem to just be there to look good, but that we all love like they were a part of our own family.
We are Norwegians! We will rise over the hate and spread more love! Don’t give the evil more attention! Overlook him and all he stands for! He wants to be a martyr! If we continue the hate and someone does kill him, how will he be able to really spend time to see that he failed?! Overlook him, and don’t do any of the things he said we would do! Don’t give him the satisfaction!
We are Norway! So let us keep showing the world just how dignified our little giant land really is!
I want to give my love to all those who lost someone, and also to those who got hurt in body and in mind on the 22nd. The stories of bravery and courage will never be forgotten!
